When you book a consultation with us, we take the time to visit your home and show you the actual style of radiator cover you would like in it’s natural setting. We find this greatly helps in deciding which cover to choose. We will never rush you into making your choice, as you will be receiving a premium product and it is important that you are happy with it.
Loughview Furnishings offers you the ability to colour match the radiator cabinet with your existings interior decor. We use the professional range of woodfinishes from Morrells, which allows us to colour match with Farrow & Ball, Colourtrend and Dulux. We also have a vast range of wooden finishes in mahogany and oak to choose from. So deciding which radiator cover best suits your room could not be easier.

Our Range of Handcrafted Radiator Covers
The layout of the brochures shown above, give you a better insight into how each radiator cabinet will look and feel. Being able to view the cabinets from different angles gives you a greater sense of the depth and structure of each unit. You can however easily change the look of any radiator cabinet by changing the colour or grille type used.
All features of any of our designs are interchangeable. so if you require a thicker or thinner top shelf this is no problem and we have four different thicknesses of top shelf available. Like wise the detailing of the plinths or columns can be adjusted to meet your needs.
All of the radiator cabinets are made from high quality medium density fibre board, which has a very low moisture content and a homogenous structure which makes it ideal for radiator cabinets, as it can withstand fluctuations in temperatures without warping and twisting. This is coupled with the use of solid wood turnings , mouldings and plinth blocks.
The front panel of the cabinets can be cut from one solid piece with no joints or alternatively we can join the panel together to create a more traditional look to the cabinet. Access to the radiator can be gained through one of two ways. The front panel can made removable for easy access to thermostatic control valve’s, but in the event that you have any problems with the radiator, you can still remove the entire radiator cabinet completely. The radiator cabinet can also be made with a fixed front and the complete cabinet can be simply lifted from the wall were it is secured by two brackets, this is particularly useful for painting and decorating as well as radiator maintenance
The History of Radiator Cabinet
Whilst many people may think that radiator covers are a new invention or an interior design element which has come about in the last twenty years , this is not true.
The first radiator cabinet is thought to have been made at some point in the victorian era.
The latter part of the 19th century saw greater emphasis placed on attractive and elegant home design. The old cast iron radiators and pipes were regarded as an eyesore and the desire to cover these blemishes led to the introduction of decorative radiator cabinets.
Not all Radiator Covers are created equal
When you goggle rad covers, you are bombarded with a plethora of cheap solutions form DIY stores all over the country.
It may seem to many that this is the way to go and all that is available. They all look the same and that is because for the most part they are the same, all sourced from factories in china and the far east. All knock down furniture supplied in a box and of very filmsy construction when you eventually manage to assemble them.
If you wish to purchased a radiator cabinet which will add aesthetic appeal to your home then a made to measure bespoke radiator cover is the best option.
Choose a radiator cabinet that is fully assembled and most importantly fitted in your home. A fitted radiator cover must be properly scribed around your existing skirting board allow it to fit neatly to the wall. Remember that it is very seldom walls are straight even in newly build homes .
At Loughview Furnishings we take the time and effort to sand any imperfections in the walls out of the cabinets to allow the finished cabinet to fit flush against your wall. Please note your walls and skirting are not touched, it is the cabinet which is scribed to match.
