When you book a consultation with us, we take the time to visit your home and show you the actual style of radiator cover you would like in it’s natural setting. We will never rush you into making your choice, as you will be receiving a premium product and it is important that you are happy with it.

We use the professional range of woodfinishes from Morrells, which allows us to colour match with Farrow & Ball, Colourtrend and Dulux. The History of Radiator Cabinet
Whilst many people may think that radiator covers are a new invention or an interior design element which has come about in the last twenty years , this is not true.
The first radiator cabinet is thought to have been made at some point in the victorian era.
The latter part of the 19th century saw greater emphasis placed on attractive and elegant home design. The old cast iron radiators and pipes were regarded as an eyesore and the desire to cover these blemishes led to the introduction of decorative radiator cabinets.
Not all Radiator Covers are created equal
When you goggle rad covers, you are bombarded with a plethora of cheap solutions form DIY stores all over the country.
It may seem to many that this is the way to go and all that is available. They all look the same and that is because for the most part they are the same, all sourced from factories in china and the far east. All knock down furniture supplied in a box and of very filmsy construction when you eventually manage to assemble them.
If you wish to purchased a radiator cabinet which will add aesthetic appeal to your home then a made to measure bespoke radiator cover is the best option.
Choose a radiator cabinet that is fully assembled and most importantly fitted in your home. A fitted radiator cover must be properly scribed around your existing skirting board allow it to fit neatly to the wall. Remember that it is very seldom walls are straight even in newly build homes .
At Loughview Furnishings we take the time and effort to sand any imperfections in the walls out of the cabinets to allow the finished cabinet to fit flush against your wall. Please note your walls and skirting are not touched, it is the cabinet which is scribed to match.

Answering the questions you wish to ask
Do radiator cabinets block heat.
The most important thing to consider when making a radiator cabinet is to have vents both top and bottom and using a grille that is at least 40% open weave. This allows the coldest air to be drawn in through the bottom vent and as the cold air rises up pass the radiator it is heated and rises to the top and can escape via the top vent.
The main disadvantage is a loss in radiant heat from the hot metal of the radiator. however your radiator mainly heats the room by convection which is the movement of hot air and this is facilitated by the proper venting of the radiator cover.
Why can't I Just purchase a small, medium or large radiator cabinet from you?
At loughview furnishings all of our radiator cabinets are bespoke and made to measure. Trying to sell standardised cabinets only leaves you with an ill fitting cover for your home.
These type of cabinets will always be inferior to a custom made radiator cover.
Can you colour match the rad cover with my existing decor.
We can colour from Farrow & Ball , Colourtrend and dulux.
We use a professional spray paints from morrell's to achieve this. However due to different application methods and porous natural of different materials finishes will vary slightly. Matches are approximately 85 to 90% accurate. If you use paint from a third party this can effect match match.
Do I have to have the radiator cover fitted
Whilst it is certainly better to have it fitted by us, We can supply it to you directly. A cut out can be made to allow it to fit over the skirting Board. But when we fit , a profile gauge is used in order to cut an accurate shape from your radiator cabinet and allow it to fit correctly. Please note that your wall straightness has a major impact on this and we will sand out any humps.
Can I have a radiator cover with a mirror and no vents
Absolutely not on both counts. This will definitely block the heat escaping. A radiator cover must have vents and heat will not pass through a mirror, also it will get very dirty.
Can I just purchase a radiator cover directly from your website
Due to the fact that all our cabinets are custom made and available in a wide range of finishes it is difficult to give a one size fits all pricing strategy. This is coupled with the fact that are radiator are not flat packed and cannot be sent by couriers , due to the irregular shape and size of each cabinet. also are cabinets are not light in weight unlike some of our competitors.
